Sue Polis
Director, External Relations and Outreach, Trust For America’s Health

Sue Pechilio Polis is responsible for the development and management of the Trust for America’s Health (TFAH) external affairs and advocacy outreach program in support of the organization’s public policy efforts. Prior to joining TFAH, Mrs. Polis worked at AARP on health and financial security-related issues including advocacy, outreach, campaign planning and implementation efforts most recently with the Initiative on the Future of Nursing: Campaign for Action in coordination with the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. She was responsible for the development of overall campaign plans including issue strategy development, policymaker engagement strategies, stakeholder management and state/regional organizing structure and execution.

Prior to joining AARP, Mrs. Polis was the first National Director of Grassroots Advocacy for the American Heart Association. She was responsible for the development and implementation of a five-year strategic plan that led to significant growth of the organization’s advocacy capacity in support of public policy objectives at the federal and state levels. Mrs. Polis was Director of Marketing for Winning Connections, an electoral and grassroots consulting firm in Washington, DC. She worked with a wide range of clients on environmental, tobacco, and health-related issues.  Prior to that, she was the Director of Political Programs with the Association for Advanced Life Underwriting. She was responsible for political fundraising programs and key contact recruitment and outreach. Mrs. Polis began her career in New Jersey as a paralegal with the firm of Crummy, DelDeo, Dolan, Griffinger and Vecchione and is a graduate of Seton Hall University with a major in political science. She lives with her husband and two children in the Washington, DC area.
